Musica e rossi toscani

On the notes of various international music events, a group of musicians and winemakers, with a fervent passion for music, including Roberto Guerrini Fuligni and friends, launched an original music festival: “Music and Tuscan Reds”.

During the concert breaks of the 1999 Salzburg Festival, the first musical encounters, by invitation only, were planned and subsequently took place in the territory of Siena in August 2000 to coincide with the Palio of Siena. The festival, which originated as a private gathering among friends, was later repeated and amplified with its success in the years that followed. In one group there are the winemakers including: the Earl Andrea Costanti (Brunello di Montalcino), Lorenza de’Medici Stucchi Prinetti (Chianti Classico), Roberto Guerrini Fuligni (Brunello di Montalcino), the Boscu Bianchi Bandinelli family (Chianti Classico) and Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini (Brunello and Chianti). In the other group there are well-known musicians including some members of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Berlin and the String Sextet of the Berlin Philharmonic: Bernard Hartog, Marietta Kratz, Ying Zhang, Rebecca Schneider, Walter Küssner, Matthew Hunter, Ulrich Knörzer, Simone Jandl, Ansgar Schneider, Götz Teutsch, Ulrich Wolff, Jonathan Kelly, Walter Seyfarth, Daniele Damiano, Sevimbike Elibay, Noriko Sugyiama, Francesco Dilaghi, and Cordelia Höfer. The main concept is to stage musical events in August and in other summer months during which the works of Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann, Brahms, Dvorak and others are performed in Tuscan villas and on the estates owned by the above-mentioned wine producers. Following the performances, the hosts and their guests indulge in Brunello di Montalcino and Chianti Classico. “Music and Tuscan Reds”, which brings together personalities from both the worlds of Italian wine and European and American cultures, has already become a cultural and wine event of the summer that cannot be missed. The evenings are composed of a combination of different cultures, music, special places and the wines, a traditional expression of the land. It has become customary that the first “Music and Tuscan Reds” night of the series takes place in Montalcino near the Fuligni vineyards and cellar that has been owned by the family for over a century. Following the concert, which takes place around seven o’clock in the evening on the terrace facing the hills of Montalcino, in the vineyards or in the cellar, there is a dinner organised in collaboration with Fuligni’s American importers (www.empson.com) accompanied by a tasting of the latest vintage of Fuligni Brunello and other wines; Rosso di Montalcino, Ginestreto and San Jacopo.
